NORDHAVN A/S is moving into new and bigger production facilities in Randers

Despite the financial crisis the company is strengthening its competitiveness with optimised production facilities.

The Aarhus company NORDHAVN A/S has just finalised the financial year 08/09 in the black in spite of the financial crisis. The company whose history goes back more than fifty years, was in 2007 bought by Claus Sogaard in the front as the main stakeholder and as managing director.

"NORDHAVN is in one of the most cyclical markets of them all. We are supplier of engines and generating sets and propulsion units for the maritime sector. Not just in Denmark, but all over the world counting some of the worlds largest ship owners and shipbuilders on the client list. When they are experiencing hard times so are we", is the statement from Claus Sogaard.

After a couple of prosperous years in 06/07 and 07/08 the company has experienced the financial crisis year 08/09 as a long haul with a lot of postponements and cancellations of orders. In spite of that, NORDHAVN A/S ends up with positive bottom line figures.

While NORDHAVN is waiting for a more positive state of the market the company has chosen to concentrate a substantial amount of resources on enhancing its competitiveness. The company is upgrading its production facilities as a decision has been made to move the location of the company from the sea front in Aarhus to Randers. The move to the facilities in Randers where Randersboren has houses is planned for the summer 2010.

"We have chosen Randers and the site because it matches our demands for a future optimal production layout and because of the infrastructure. We will have a much better logistic and our employees will have even easier access to their work place," says Claus Sogaard about the decision.

NORDHAVN A/S is a 100 % Danish owned company with more than 50 years of experience in projecting, sales and service of diesel based engine applications. The majority of the capacity is generating sets and propulsion units for the maritime sector, especially the shipbuilding industry in Asia with China as the main marked. The company has around fifty employees and has sole agency for SCANIA, SISU (previously Valmet) and JCB engines in Denmark, The Faeroe Islands, Iceland and Greenland.
